Series 2 and 3 of record group 74-28 consist of two sets of records of the Forest Fire Division of the Michigan Department of Conservation. The first set are selected records of the Division (1960-67). Includes correspondence (1960-67), general budget materials (1963-67), and correspondence and papers relating to the Region Nine forest fire meeting at Higgins Lake (June 21-23, 1966). The second set of records are individual forest fire reports for 1967. The reports give precise location of fires; its cause; the date and time the fire was started, discovered, reported, attacked, controlled, and put out; the area burned; and weather conditions at the time of the fire. Also includes the numbers, names and pay of those who fought the fire; equipment used; a damage assessment for timber, forage, recreation, wildlife and property; the total cost of the fire; and a detailed.
